Just read One Year Commencing, by Kathy Stinson. It's about a girl named Al, who has been living with her mother in Alberta, until a court order states that she must live with her father in Toronto, Ontario for a full year, and after the year, decide which parent she wants to live with.
I liked the book. I like Stinson's description. She came to our school for the annual Wordfest, so I guess I feel I have a sort of connection to her. I was a little disappointed, however, with the ending. I thought that it was not as promising as the opening. I like the references to Toronto.
All in all, cute book, a little disappointing, yet worthwhile a two day read.
